about the band

Carol Hendrix Burrus, Andy Black and Charlie Burrus have been playing music together since the early '90s. Traveler began as a folk group, but over the years has been influenced by rock and roll, big band jazz, blues, bluegrass, and church music.  They began recording in 2004, added full time percussionist Michael Black in 2023, and have just recently finished their seventh CD, Little Seed.  In this latest CD you can hear their folk roots in the acoustic guitar, double bass, ukulele and three part vocal harmonies, but you also hear electric bass and guitar, as well as piano, organ, flute, melodica, and various percussion. 

Although a Traveler show might include a handful of cover songs, most of the band's music is original, written by lead vocalist Carol Burrus.  Her songs range in topic from the spiritual to the political to the good old love song.
